Birth fracture

Abstract
Trauma to long bones in the newly born is sustained during a difficult delivery, particularly when the baby is especially large and the presentation is breech. The fractures are usually complete and there is often considerable displacement.
The fractures are seldom of the greenstick type. When the threat of fetal anoxia and urgency of delivery often necessiate forceful extraction, one limb may be difficult to disengage from the birth canal and a bone may be fractured.
Five cases of birth fracture, 3 cases of clavicular fracture and one case of humeral fracture and one case of femoral fracture, seen at Severance Hosp. from. Jan. 1967 to Dec. 1973 were reviewed.
